Default PS2 Question: Playing Backups

Hi Guys,

I just got a PS2 recently, (I know, very very late, but what the heck? )
Any of you know how I can play my backup PS2 games without having to modify the console? I would like to keep my Final Fantasy games as pristine as the day I opened the box

Cheers.

You need a bootloader disc.

Thanks Faer =) I did some research and came up with the same answer. However, the only solid lead that I have is Swap Magic. Since I am a total noob when it comes to PS2 gimmicks, I was hoping that someone more knowledgeable would be able to help.

In the case of swap magic, if I have a slim PS2 with the fliptop, do I need to install anything? (I read something about magic switch) Or will the bootloader disc be enough?

Cheers.

I have Swap Magic so I can play import games, namely Rez. I also have the slim PS2, and you need either the magic switch or a similar device, a replacement flip-top cover, or a different case. All you need to do is depress the switches in the PS2 that the drive lid does when it closes, and any of those methods will do that. I have the magic switch because it was only $5 or so. It was pretty easy to install, and it has worked without issue. The Swap Magic disks don't always work, but my version may be older than what is available now, and I've never had to try more than 5 times in a row before they did.
